He
received his M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Washington
University, USA
in 1995 and B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Wayne State University, USA
in 1986. Upon graduation, he worked with several private companies as
cadet
engineer, assistant process engineer and production engineer. He has
been a
lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA for 19 years and taught various
chemical
engineering subjects such as Chemical Process Principles, Industrial
Processes,
Units Operations, Material Science and Thermodynamics. Beside teaching,
he was
also a facilitator for UiTM’s special
students programmes.
For the past 11
years, he has been active in process control research especially
neutralization
control, temperature control and PID tuning. He had redeveloped the
controller
tuning method which reduces the number of calculation steps and
formulated the
controller tuning for discrete computation. This newly innovative
technique is
called Reformulated Tangent Method and
won a silver medal in Innovation, Invention & Design (IID2007)
competition
at Universiti Teknologi MARA. He has
published numerous papers on controller tuning strategies,
neutralization and
temperature control. Currently, he teaches process control to the
chemical
engineering students, conducts short courses and maintains a website on
“PID
Tuning” – http://aabi.tripod.com

Ms.
Chong received her M.Sc. and B.Eng. from Universiti Sains Malaysia
in 2000 and 1998,
respectively. After graduation, she worked with Yokogawa Electric
Malaysia as
application engineer for two years. Then, she joins Syntek Engineering
as
test/training engineer where she involves in fabrication of more than
90 small
scaled ecudational process control simulators.
In
Syntek
Engineering, she also designed and prepared training modules in process
control
training. Her expertise has been recognised by many vocational
institutions in
her appointment as a member of Technical Panel. |
